It all started with one idea – the love of wood. In the late 1990s, Joachim Bertsch, founder of BHB, decided to combine his lifelong passions: craftsmanship, design and wood. In a small workshop, surrounded by forests, the vision of creating things that are durable, beautiful and functional was born.
Joachim started his business alone. He designed, constructed and sought out customers himself, putting his whole heart into it. Every house that left his workshop told a story – a story of precision, quality and love of craftsmanship.

How did we turn passion into success?
For the first decade, Joachim worked continuously, laying the foundations of his company. He was a designer, craftsman and leader all in one. Every piece of wood, every construction was a testament to his love of the material and the passion with which he created. Joachim believed that wood had something magical about it – it was both durable and flexible, and its natural beauty could transform spaces and people’s lives. This passion quickly translated into quality, which began to attract a growing clientele. The first years were a time of hard work, but also of big dreams and visions.
Over time, the company began to grow. The first production halls were built, new employees were hired and Joachim created a team of professionals to whom he passed on his knowledge and work philosophy. As a result, BHB began to carry out increasingly demanding projects, gaining the trust of clients across the country. In 2012, the company opened a branch in Germany to raise the standard of services provided. This decision enabled us to grow in the German-speaking market, where our products quickly gained a reputation for excellent workmanship and unique designs. In 2024, we went one step further by establishing a company in the UK. This move allowed us to strengthen our position in the English-speaking markets and raise the quality of our services to an even higher level. BHB has become an international brand without losing the family character and values that have been the foundation of our business from the beginning.

10 Questions for Joachim Bertsch
Founding BHB was a natural consequence of my passion for wood and building. Even as a child I was fascinated by the possibilities offered by this material – its durability, beauty and versatility. I wanted to create a company that not only delivers products, but also tells a story – a story about family, tradition and love of craftsmanship.
What sets BHB apart is our approach to each project. We are not just a manufacturer – we are a partner who is involved in every stage, from design to completion. Additionally, our family values are the foundation of the company. Clients know they can trust us because we focus on quality, authenticity and closeness in relationships.
Absolutely yes! Challenges are what fuel our growth. Every unusual order or complex project is an opportunity to prove ourselves and raise the bar. Nothing gives greater satisfaction than seeing a satisfied client who feels that their expectations have not only been met, but exceeded.
I am most proud of the moment when we transformed from a small family business into an international brand. Every step along the way – from our first orders to opening new markets – has been proof that hard work, quality and passion always pay off. My greatest satisfaction, however, is the fact that despite our success and industry leadership, we remain a family business. We have managed to maintain our values, the closeness in our relationships and the approach that makes every customer feel special to us. It is this balance between growth and authenticity that I see as our greatest achievement.
In five years, I would like to see BHB as an even stronger brand on the international market, offering innovative solutions and an even greater variety of products. We want to be an industry leader, but also a company that inspires and stays true to its values.
2012 was a landmark year for us because we opened a Sales company in Germany. This was a huge step towards international expansion. Another key moment was 2024, when we consolidated our position in the English-speaking market, which opened up new prospects for us. Each of these years was proof that growth requires courage and vision.
It is a continuous process. We test new technologies, look for better materials and constantly learn from our customers. We treat every piece of feedback we receive from our customers as a valuable tip – it’s how we know what can be improved and what already meets the highest standards.
The company has a dedicated prototyping and innovation team. Their task is not only to design new solutions, but also to optimize existing products in terms of functionality, durability and aesthetics. Quality testing is also an important part of this process, allowing us to ensure that our products meet not only industry standards, but also our own exceptionally high requirements. Every day is a new challenge, but also an opportunity to create something unique that benefits both customers and the environment.
The growth of our dealer network is one of our greatest achievements. Being present in more than 15 countries shows that our products are valued globally. It is also a huge responsibility to maintain a high standard of service wherever we are.
Inspiration comes from many sources – from nature, from conversations with customers, from observing market trends. Every project is an opportunity to create something unique that combines aesthetics with functionality.We also often draw ideas from the history of wood as a material – its traditional use and the possibilities it offers in a modern context.
